This term applies to larger ear trumpets usually with a long tube from a dome style horn. Some are really quite large and unwieldy and always made from metal. One is very home made and generally the construction was a bit agricultural, although there is also a silver plated one. The longest is over half a metre ! Nothing discreet about this type!
