The CID was previously the holder of the CID-Goldstein collection.
These hearing aids were merged with the Becker items.
A small display was kept at the CID and this photo shows a wide variety of type.
The apparently home made funnel and copper ear-pieces stethoscope seems to have been issued to the students by Max Goldstein MD (1870-1941) see below useful link
The label bottom right reads:
Among Dr Goldstein's many creative works was the Simplex Hearing Tube, developed to direct sound to both ears simoultabneously during voice and speech practice, and to stimulate (or "phono-masssage") the ears.
According to Dr Goldstein, the Simplex Tube could be esily constructed ata cost of about 75c in 1939. This device, one of those used at CID, is part of the CID-Goldstein Collection
